Cooperative

  • Catholic Worker Community of Cleveland - Deeply convinced of the radical truth of the Gospel, we strive to follow a Catholic Worker philosophy. We emphasize the corporal works of mercy—identifying with and ministering to the homeless, poor, sick, imprisoned—and radical action against the causes of poverty and oppression. We seek to be nonviolent and opposed to all war and to answer Jesus' call to be peacemakers. We recognize the continual need to clarify our thought through prayer, reflection, dialogue, and action.
  • Esperanza Threads Organic Clothing- Esperanza Threads is a project of the Grassroots Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice of Ohio. It is a democratically operated cooperative that employs low-income individuals for manufacturing organic cotton clothing in Bedford, OH. Our goal is to provide jobs fair wages in our cooperative. Esperanza Threads began in June of 2000 as a part of The Grassroots Cooperative. In September of 2001, we became an autonomous group. We have been establishing ourselves as an Organic Clothing Manufacturer and connecting with communities in Northeast Ohio.
  • Cleveland Indy Media Center- The Cleveland independent media center is part of the worldwide network of collectively run media outlets creating radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth. We work out of love and inspiration for the people who continue to work for a better world, despite corporate media's distortions and unwillingness to cover the efforts to free humanity.
  • Food Not Bombs- Food Not Bombs is dedicated to ending hunger. We do this by collecting food that markets can't sell, cooking it, and sharing it with anybody who's hungry. There are hundreds of FNB groups worldwide. Cleveland FNB cooks every Sunday at 1pm, and brings the goods to Public Square or nearby at 4:30pm. We would love for you to cook and/or eat with us. Just email or call for details.
  • Ohio City Bike Co-op- The OCBC is a non-profit, volunteer-driven cooperative bicycle education center. Our Earn a Bike program takes donations of used bikes and helps kids earn one for themselves while they learn bike repair and safe cycling. Surplus bikes are fully refurbished for sale to support the program. For adults, we offer repair classes as well as the League of American Bicyclists' Bike Driver's Ed program. We have some used bikes for sale, but we are not a bike shop and do not take in repairs. We also do not sell new bikes, clothes, shoes, or non-essential accessories.
  • C-Space- A community center for interaction, social programs + political action. Do you have an idea to improve your neighborhood, Cleveland, or the world? Are you good at something you'd like to teach others? Are there issues you would like to talk over with other Clevelanders? Did you always want to put on a performance, event or class but did not have anywhere to do it?
  • Cleveland Food Co-op- A natural foods grocery store with local, organic foods since 1968.
