Poverty & Homelessness

  • Catholic Worker Community of Cleveland - Deeply convinced of the radical truth of the Gospel, we strive to follow a Catholic Worker philosophy. We emphasize the corporal works of mercy—identifying with and ministering to the homeless, poor, sick, imprisoned—and radical action against the causes of poverty and oppression. We seek to be nonviolent and opposed to all war and to answer Jesus' call to be peacemakers. We recognize the continual need to clarify our thought through prayer, reflection, dialogue, and action.
  • Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cleveland- The Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cleveland is a private, non-profit organization providing hospitality, meals, and support to homeless families through a network of religious congregations. IHN mobilizes Greater Cleveland’s religious community to respond to the needs of our community’s most vulnerable: homeless families. The mission of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cleveland is to provide hospitality to homeless families. IHN offers compassionate care to homeless families, alleviates the trauma of homelessness and assists families in securing a stable home.
  • Food Not Bombs- Food Not Bombs is dedicated to ending hunger. We do this by collecting food that markets can't sell, cooking it, and sharing it with anybody who's hungry. There are hundreds of FNB groups worldwide. Cleveland FNB cooks every Sunday at 1pm, and brings the goods to Public Square or nearby at 4:30pm. We would love for you to cook and/or eat with us. Just email or call for details.
  • Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless- The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless (NEOCH) is a coalition of service providers, housing activists, members, and homeless people. NEOCH activities in partnership with the homeless include the publication of the Homeless Grapevine newspaper, co-sponsorship of the Stand Down service fair, staffing for the Shelter Provider Group, co-sponsorship of an Annual Homeless Conference, sponsorship of the Homeless Vigil, publication of the Street Card, and construction of a host of educational and advocacy activities.
